Folsom Lake College is the first community college built in the 21st century and one of only a few colleges built in the last 25 years. When completed, the college is expected to serve 15,000 - 20,000 students. Los Rios is the second largest community college district in the state with 67,000 students enrolled at its four colleges-American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake and Sacramento City. The district serves 1.6 million people living in a 2,400 square mile area that includes Sacramento County and parts of El Dorado, Yolo, Placer and Solano counties.

Folsom Lake College is located just east of the Highway 50 and Scott Road intersection on East Bidwell Street in Folsom, California. The college serves the educational needs of those living and working in Folsom and along the Highway 50 corridor. In addition to the main campus in Folsom, FLC operates the El Dorado and Rancho Cordova Centers.

The new college combines the most successful educational strategies practiced throughout the United States and makes student learning the institutional focus.
