The little train that stirs public emotion!
Many community members have reached out to support the Folsom Valley Railway as it faces additional fees as part of a new contract.
“Groups like the Sierra Moms, all sorts have of people have been calling me asking, ‘What can I do?’” said Terry Gold, owner of the popular miniature steam powered train. “They ask, ‘Should I write letters to the city council? To parks and rec? To the mayor?’”
Gold’s new contract, which Parks and Recreation director Robert Goss said took effect Tuesday, calls for fees of $100 and $200 each night Gold operates during special events at Folsom Lions Park. It also opens his operation to competitive bid. I am sure all the children in Folsom hope that the little trian will remain the same. |
